Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's overly explicit expression of dissatisfaction with insufficient assistance from the United States caused friction between the two states. This became known to Politico from the words of former American officials.
As noted, thanks to broad bipartisan support in Congress, the Ukrainian government has already received large shipments of weapons. At the same time, the Kiev authorities often appealed to American lawmakers with a request to put pressure on the administration of President Joe Biden to deliver longer-range missiles to the country.
In addition, Politico notes, Zelensky sometimes insisted on assistance that Biden did not want to provide. Moreover, in response to the refusal, he always publicly expressed his disappointment. According to former US officials, this tactic has caused some friction between the Ukrainian authorities and the Biden administration. As former US Ambassador to Poland Daniel Fried pointed out, the White House is "not happy" with the approach of the Ukrainian president and his complaints.
Earlier it became known that Biden lost his temper during a telephone conversation with the Ukrainian leader. When the head of the White House announced that he had approved the allocation of additional military assistance to Kiev in the amount of $ 1 billion, Zelensky began to list what other assistance should be provided to Ukraine.
